نگاه کلی به آزمون آیلتس


امتحان در دو نوع مختلف آکادمیک و جنرال ترینیگ برگزار می‌شود. امتحان آکادمیک توانایی انگلیسی داوطلبانی را می‌سنجد که قصد دارند تحصیلات خود را در مقطع کارشناسی به بالا در یک دانشگاه انگلیسی زبان ادامه دهند.یکی از مهمترین شرط‌های پذیرفته‌شدن در این دانشگاه‌ها فراهم آوردن سطحی قابل قبول از نمره این امتحان میباشد .نوع جنرال ترینینگ آزمون آیلتس معلومات داوطلبان را در سطحی وسیعتر و در بستری علمی – اجتماعی می‌سنجد. آزمون جنرال‌ترینینگ برای کسانی مناسب است که قصد دارند تحصیلات پیش‌ دانشگاهی خود را در کشوری انگلیسی زبان به ‌پایان برسانند و یا به‌منظور گذراندن دوره‌های کوتا‌ه‌مدت کاری و یا دست‌یافتن به‌فرصت‌های شغلی قصد سفر به این کشور‌ها را دارند. به‌علاوه کارنامه این امتحان از جمله مدارکی است که در جریان بررسی پرونده‌های مهاجرت کشورهای استرالیا، نیوزلند و کانادا از متقاضیان طلب می‌شود.

در امتحان آیلتس توانایی‌های شنیدن، خواندن، نوشتن، و صحبت‌کردن در چهار قسمت جداگانه سنجیده می‌شود. در حالیکه توانایی شنیداری و صحبت‌کردن داوطلبان امتحان آکادمیک و جنرال‌ترینیگ به‌ روش کاملاً ‌مشابهی صورت می‌گیرد، هر یک از این دو گروه، سوالات جداگانه‌ای در قسمت‌های خواندن و نوشتن دریافت می‌کنند. مسئولیت انتخاب نوع امتحان بر عهده متقاضی بوده و شرکت‌کنندگان باید هنگام ثبت‌نام خود نوع امتحان مورد نظر را در فرم ثبت‌نام قید کنند. برای بدست‌آوردن اطلاعات بیشتر در مورد هر‌یک از بخش‌های امتحان لطفاً روی هر یک از شکل‌های زیر کلیک کنید.سه بخش اول هر امتحان در یک روز برگزار می‌شود، اما بخش مصاحبه‌ ممکن است در طول یک‌هفته بعد و یا یک هفته قبل از امتحان برگزار شود. داوطلبانی که از شهر‌های دیگر برای برگزاری امتحان به تهران می‌آیند در اولویت قرار خواهند داشت. این دسته از داوطلبان برای استفاده از اولویت در‌نظر گرفته‌شده باید هنگام ثبت‌نام نام خود را در لیستی جداگانه به‌ثبت برسانند و مسئول ثبت نام را در جریان بگذارند.

IELTS، به نوعی طراحی شده که قادر است میزان معلومات داوطلبان در سطوح مختلف از زبان انگلیسی را سنجیده و با توجه به استاندارد جهانی طبقه بندی کند. شرکت‌کنندگان در این آزمون به طیف متنوعی از سوالات بسیار ساده تا بسیار مشکل پاسخ می‌دهند و در پایان با توجه به نمره‌ای که از هر‌یک از چهار‌بخش مختلف دریافت‌کرده‌اند سطحی مابین نا‌آشنای کامل به زبان انگلیسی، با نمره صفر، تا سطح آشنای کامل به زبان انگلیسی، با نمره ۹، طبقه‌بندی می‌شوند.

IELTS Overview

Total Test Time : 2 hours 45 minutes

The first three modules - Listening, Reading and Writing - must be completed in one day. The Speaking Module may be taken, at the discretion of the test centre, in the period seven days before or after the other Modules.

The tests are designed to cover the full range of ability from non-user to expert user.

If you belong to a non-English speaking country and if you are willing to study or work in the United Kingdom, Australia or Canada you need to appear an English language aptitude test: International English Language Testing System (IELTS). If you secure the required score in the Test, you will be allowed to study or work in the country of your choice.

IELTS is owned by three reputable, international organizations: University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP Education Australia: IELTS Australia. It adopts the highest quality control and security procedures. More than 6000 organizations, including many government departments and universities, rely on IELTS. The IELTS scoring system is recognized worldwide, giving you a truly international result.

The test measures the candidate’s aptitude to communicate in English across all four language skills –Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.

Academic Module

Those candidates who seek to study in foreign educational institutes must take the Academic Test. This test comprises four modules: Reading Module, Writing Module, Listening Module and Speaking Module.

Each Module carries a band score of 0-9. Different educational institutes in the same country require different band scores to give admissions to students. We suggest you to secure at least 7.5 bands so that you may get admission in a reputed university.

Reading Module
Reading Module comprises three reading comprehensions having about 40 questions. You are given 60 minutes time to answer these questions. The questions are of various types: Selecting appropriate titles for the given paragraphs of the passages, Sentence completion, Matching, etc.

You need to adopt certain short-cut techniques so that you may be able to answer maximum questions within the given time.

Writing Module
This comprises two tasks: Task-I requires you to study certain charts, graphs or tables and interpret them in 150 words. The time allowed for task I is 20 minutes. Task-II requires you to write an essay in 250 words within 40 minutes. Thus, the total time for Writing Module is 60 minutes.

The IELTS General Module does not have charts, graphs or tables. Instead, it has letter writing: complaints, notices, requests, informal letters, etc. However, the issue or essay writing part is common for Academic and General Modules.

Listening Module
It lasts for 30 minutes. You need to listen to the audio and answer the questions simultaneously. It has four sections, containing 10-11 questions each. This part is also common for Academic and General Modules.

Speaking Module

It is for 15 minutes. You need to introduce yourself; then, a topic is given on which you need to speak for about 3 to 4 minutes and it is followed by a discussion between you and the examiner.
